Season 8 will take you on a dizzying ride through the political, the practical, the musical and the downright hysterical sides of living with disability; living being the operative word. No Limits and Steve Hurd win big at the 2009 Antenna Awards

It was community television’s night of nights, complete with fashion, chandeliers, appetizers that looked too decorative to eat and pointy glass awards that could have doubled as lethal weapons!

No Limits was well represented with two tables of enthusiastic cast, crew, staff and board members, right up front, cheering for the show’s success as we won the sought after awards of Outstanding Interview Program, and Outstanding Male Presenter (congratulations Steve Hurd!).

“What a fabulous result for us,” says Erin McCuskey, producer of No Limits. “Recognition and comparison to other mainstream shows for a change, not just up against other shows ‘about disability’. And the competition was fierce - there were some good shows out there - which just highlights how far we have come in terms of our production values, our stories and our purpose.” Of course, special congratulations must go out to No Limits host Steve Hurd, who was, very unfortunately, too sick to attend on the night. Let’s hope discovering that he’d beaten the competition out of the water aided a quick recovery!

Steve Hurd on No Limits

And since the official televised broadcast of the night was sadly lacking and incomplete without a speech from our daring Hurdini, Steve has sent us a taste of the speech that would have been …

“I want to thank Essa, for her creativity, belief in the Hurdini dream and work. I also want to thank Larry, Colin, Rikki, and all the off camera doods like Tracy and Rob and all the others; to Sarah Barton for giving me my first No Limits gig; and, of course, the board and staff of Grit.

“No, don’t worry, I am not going to thank the Lord and start crying.

“I want to thank Macca and Sara as well as the other on camera doods. I want to thank the fish at the aquarium and all the companies who risked their public liability insurance to let me do those wild things. I want to thank Hoola Dane, the racehorse I share ownership of for winning in Sydney the other day as well.”

Congratulations to the No Limits team!

No Limits 100th Episode

Yes, it was the big 100, and it went off with a bang! Or perhaps a watery swish sound, as it took place at the Melbourne Aquarium.

The team did a fantastic job, shooting before a backdrop of stingrays, sharks, and a striking variety of tropical fish.

Themes for the episode were based on the future – how we want it to be and how we will get it there. Water and the environment also featured.

Congratulations to our fabulous cast and crew, who make it look so easy.
